Recently my parents asked me to help them sell their 2017 Sprinter Class B RV. I advertised it and in less than 3 days it was sold, for more than what they purchased it for, just some 5 months prior.
The next task on my list was to replace this vehicle with a new 2020 Sprinter 4x4 144" wheelbase van. This part is always kind of tricky and frustrating because Sprinter has a ridiculous amount of options to have or NOT have. In addition, if you happen to be looking for passenger vans they are almost non-existent on dealer lots, generally 10 crew vans to 1 passenger van. When you add the pandemic buying craze, finding the right 4x4 and buying it before someone else does really increases the stress level.
The secret is out now and dealers will tell you that if you want a new 4x4 Sprinter or even a 6 cylinder diesel you'd better buy soon; as they will shut down production of the V6 Diesel by around November and await certification by the EPA. This delay will of course stop all 4x4 model production until around June, when certification is expected to be complete. Until that time only the 4 cylinder turbo diesel will be available, along with the gas engine in the 1500 models.
