The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature SkyActiv-D (finally) recently debuted at the New York Autoshow. The company is now taking pre-orders on their first US diesel SUV offering. The Diesel CX-5 will be available this July, 2019.
According to Mazda's sales literature, they are offering no cost maintenance for the first 2 years/ 30,000 miles.
This is worth a look if you are looking for a small AWD SUV with good fuel mileage, which is conservatively set at 27 city & 30 highway or 28 combined. I have found that diesels almost always exceed their posted mileage in the real world.
Mazda North America says they also plan to incorporate their diesel technology into their new all wheel drive Mazda 6 sedan.
If I had stock in Subaru aka Fuji Heavy Industries I would be selling it about now, as I believe Mazda is finally offering what so many Subaru fans have asked for in the past years, a diesel AWD SUV and AWD diesel car. I hope Mazda is successful with their new diesel options.
